چکیده

We investigate the excitation spectrum of a singly charged LiF surface using an embedded cluster approach. The spectrum is determined by multiconfiguration self-consistent field calculations. We find stable trionic states, i.e., quasimolecular states of a three-quasiparticle complex consisting of two holes and one electron interacting through the Coulomb potential. The excitation energy of the lowest trionic state is approximately 12.1 eV. The mean hole-hole spacing is about 7.6 a.u. or 4 Å . Our results confirm the interpretation of experiments P. Roncin et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 89, 043201 2002 where trion excitation was suggested as effective energy-loss channel during the neutralization of Ne+ ions at an LiF surface.

Luminescence Properties of TeO2-LiF-Gd2O3 Glasses

In this work, the structural properties and spectroscopic behavior 80 mol.%TeO2-20mol.%LiF glasses which were doped with 0. 05, 0. 2 mole% Gd2O3 have been studied. It was shown that,  by increasing the amount of Gd2O3 the glass stability was decreased. The PL emissions at 431nm and 627nm wavelengths were distinguished by 320nm excitation. The FT-IR analysis showed deformed TeO4 groups in these ...

Explosion-Source Energy Partitioning and Lg-Wave Excitation: Contributions of Free-Surface Scattering

A 2D boundary-element numerical simulation approach and a local slowness analysis method for an embedded array are used to quantify effects of topographic scattering on near-source energy partitioning for simple underground explosion sources. Various parameters, including free-surface models with different root mean square (rms) random topographic fluctuations and correlation lengths, source de...

Effect of quenching in resonant coherent excitation of hydrogen atoms scattered from LiF surfaces

In this paper we analyze theoretically the ‘‘signal background’’ observed in experimental studies of the radiative decay of hydrogen atoms following resonant coherent excitation ~RCE! in grazing collisions with a LiF surface. The radiation intensity is evaluated by treating the RCE within a time-dependent ~classicaltrajectory! quantal approach, and by assuming that the excited electronic states...

Synthesize and Optical properties of ZnO: Eu Microspheres Based Nano-sheets at Direct and Indirect Excitation

Europium (Eu) doped ZnO microsphere based nano-sheets were synthesized through hydrothermal method. Effects of different concentrations of Europium on structural and optical properties of ZnO nano-sheets were investigated in detail. Prepared un-doped and Eu-doped ZnO samples were characterized using X-Ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), scanning electron micro...

Tightly Bound Trions in Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Heterostructures.

We report the observation of trions at room temperature in a van der Waals heterostructure composed of MoSe2 and WS2 monolayers. These trions are formed by excitons excited in the WS2 layer and electrons transferred from the MoSe2 layer. Recombination of trions results in a peak in the photoluminescence spectra, which is absent in monolayer WS2 that is not in contact with MoSe2. The trion origi...
